Show announcement: INFLUENCZA

Happy New Year!

2007 promises to be a busy one! Only 5 days in and we’re showing new work in Chicago at Allrise Gallery. Holly and I are excited to be part of INFLUENCA-ZA, a collaboration between Allrise Gallery and South Union Arts. Opening reception is Friday 5th January 2007 from 6 –10pm.

INFLUENCA-ZA has been organized as a response to daily bombardment of imagery concerning excessiveness, obsessiveness, consumerism, and pure waste. An existential crisis seemingly without end. For us we derive icons of war from images of gluttony. We will be showing paintings on paper hung on a camo-net backdrop, and a brand new 3/4 scale paper cut-out wall piece.

We’re thrilled to be showing with the other artists in the show Jonathan Gitelson, Greg Stimac, Scott Wilke, Anni Rossi & Anni Holm. Greg and Jon’s work in particular speaks to our concerns and we’re really excited to see the work together in this show.

Allrise Gallery is located in Wicker Park at 1542 N. Milwaukee Ave on the third floor, across the street from Earwax. INFLUENCA-ZA runs from Jan 5th thru early Feb. For more information about the show contact Anna Cerniglia art@southunion.com or call Allrise Gallery at 773.292.9255
